The Art Institutes International – Minnesota presents Media Arts event
MINNEAPOLIS – From green screens to recording studios, The Art Institutes International Minnesota has the tools students need to prepare for entry level positions in Media Arts fields. The college is eager to share its new facilities and the features of its Bachelor of Science in Audio Production program with the community and is hosting an Open Sound Art Showcase on Wednesday, April 18 from 6 – 8 p.m. on campus (15 S. 9th Street, Minneapolis).
The main event will take place in the college’s Media Arts building (800 Hennepin Ave) with a ribbon cutting ceremony inaugurating Audio Studio A. Minneapolis-based acoustic singer and songwriter Kevin Steinman will christen the studio while entertaining guests with a short set recorded by the college’s Audio Production students. A local band will also have the opportunity to record their music in the studio.
Studio A is stacked with equipment, featuring a 24-track Solid State Logic SSL Duality SE mixing board, Adams speakers, Dynaudio 5.1 surround sound speakers, an open tracking area and an isolation booth capable of recording small and medium-sized ensembles of all types. Microphones, electric guitars, amplifiers, a keyboard and a complete drum set are available for student sessions and classroom use. The more than 40 students in the Bachelor of Science in Audio Production degree program also have access to Studio A’s Pro Tools HD, a high-end recording software.
Guests of the Open Sound Art Showcase will enjoy entertainment provided by solo guitarist Scott Dercks and a reception of light refreshments prepared by students of The International Culinary School at The Art Institutes International Minnesota in the Gourmet Gallery. Not to be forgotten, Bachelor of Science in Visual Effects & Motion Graphics students will also be on-hand to engage attendees in projects running in the digital filmmaking green screen room while their Bachelor of Science in Digital Film & Video Production peers capture the action on film.
